Facebook Transport (fb.jabbim.cz) is a XMPP-Facebook Chat gateway provided by Jabbim. It is available only for Jabbim users. This guide will help you to get it to work without much inconvenience.
Obsah
Change Psi authorization options
Since you probably have tens or hundreds of ‘friends’ on Facebook, you don't want to accept authorization for single each of them manually. For this reason enable the option ‘Auto-authorize contacts’ and disable ‘Notify when authorization was received’. You can change these options back later. Please note: The gateway currently adds only friends which are ‘online’ (connected). Others will be added as they log in.
Register with the service using Service Discovery
Service Discovery is this clumsy interface used in Psi to register with various services. Double-click Facebook Transport (fb.jabbim.cz) and you will be presented with a form where you input your Facebook username (e-mail) and password. Then click on the Register button and wait a few moments.
Adding the contacts
After registering with the gateway you will receive a ‘Roster Item Exchange’ request from fb.jabbim.cz telling you how many contacts it wants to add. Authorize this change with Add/Auth button and your friends will be added to the ‘Facebook’ group. Do not use your Facebook username but your private e-mail address you have registered within your account. If unsure what the address is, go to the Account -> Account settings page on facebook web and there you can see:
- Name - your real name
- username - this is not the one to be used
- email - your private e-mail address - use this one
